I replied:  ""or unless macromedia releases their compiler for free
(unlikely)"  I won't say this is or is not likely, but I would guess
that much of what we have released lately (a public alpha, a cmd line
compiler, an eclipse based tool, the Flex framework with that tool, etc)
would have been considered "unlikely" by many even a few weeks ago, and
yet here they are.  Your guess is pretty reasonable here, but we like
surprising ourselves too :)"

Well, I couldn't be more specific at the time, but I am pleased to let
folks know now that we are indeed releasing the compiler and framework
and limited version of the FES server for free:
