I suppose that you are not presenting all 1700+ SWFs at once, so I would
suggest you load them in a presentable batch. Flash Player does have limits
which I believe it has more to do with user's machine. I once had a Flash
movie died miserably parsing a 500-node XML on a Pocket PC (with 64MB RAM
for app and memory), it took me forever to shrink down the XML. Please keep
in mind that XML can be reduced or even converted as string for faster and
more efficient parsing, for example if you have the following XML

        <picture>
                <filename>abc.jpg</filename>
                <author>Joe Smith</author>
                <width>640</width>
                <height>480</height>
        </picture>

You will be much better off to make the XML look like <picture
filename="abc.jpg" author="Joe Smith" width="640" height="480" /> or even
make it as a comma delimited item because XML takes up much more space to
hold in the memory.

Hope it helps!

Subject: Re: [osflash] [OT] maximum number of mc's in swf?

Hello

Firstly sorry for my english (I'm not used to write so much in english).
I'm interested in this thread because I worked in a project where lots of
external thirdpary swfs are loaded via loadMovie (about 1700 swfs currently
with total size data 50 MB aprox, increasing each day...). The main swf
preloads all of them sequentially (about 10 minutes depending on machine :-(
don't know if it could be improved, any suggestion would be really
appreciated) or does "loading by demand" (online demo purposes).
The famous warning dialog only appeared when parsing xmls (where the whole
data structure is: swfs to load, targets, events handling.. ) but It worked
with timers as workaround. The XMLs processing just takes < 1 minute so this
hasn't been a problem.

Is there a MAX movieclip number, or max data size loaded, or anything
related ?

Thanks to the people involved in the development of OSFLASH projects.
Specially to MTASC, SWFmill and XRay.
