Its a little odd. You can get a redistribution agreement for Mac and PC via the macromedia site. This is also free. When it comes to Linux, MM have always taken a slightly odd stance. Maybe this will change with the acuisition. Lets hope so.
Also, lets hope that when new version of a player comes out, it is released for *all* platforms at the same time. One of the most important things is being able to target multiple platforms (write once, run anywhere), but when there is such a big lag of releases for the various platforms to bring the player up-to-date, 'write once, run anywhere' becomes 'write once, in the future run anywhere' or 'write multiple times, run anywhere'. Linux is being used more and more in various sectors, so of course, us developers either are already, or soon will be, being required to offer our software to run on Linux. I feel if Adobe continue the same stance as MM, dare I say it, we may at some point be forced to look at alternatives.
