Hi Marcelo,

You could learn about ANTLR from the web site: http://www.antlr.org/

Basicaly, ANTLR is a lenguaje recognition tool that generate grammars and ASTs (that will support our ASDT editor's model). There's an Eclipse plugin as well for ease of development. In our case the grammars are for AS2 and AS3 languajes so we could build a fast and full feature ASDT editor. For example, JDT in eclipse editor is build in the same way, for this reason is so fast and reliable.

I'd like to invite to all of you that loves learn and code to read about Eclipse PDE, ANTLR, and other related things so you could contribute in the future to ASDT and have a profesional AS 2 and AS3 open source tool. It's real fun :).

Cheers,

C.

Hi Marcelo,

I want to say some words from the ASDT team. Sorry for the lack of feedback about ASDT development but people contributing in the plugin has been discussing the ways to improve in the future and finaly decided to wait some time until the new version of ANTLR comes that will bring a lot of features needed to created a great grammar and AST to build upon. ANTLR is the base software used to create the AS2 and AS3 grammars and the AST needed to get a fast editor.

In CVS there's some work that was build before the last release. For example there are new wizards and new grammars (for AS2 and AS3) along an experimental parser, but we thought there are not enough new things to bring a new release.

We published this news in the site (http://www.asdt.org) some days ago to give some feedback about what's happening with the project, but maybe this mailing list is a better place to say it.

It´s been quite some time since the last release... I´ve been using FlashDevelop but decided to go back to eclipse for some personal reasons (and becouse of the great ANT integration as well as multiple projects and PHP-Eclipse as the application server is developed in php...) and I really missed some features FD has like its great completion system (ASCompletion plug-in). ASDT just feels incomplete at the moment and unfortunately I don´t see any activity around... so, what happened to ASDT? Is it still under development?

Cheers,

Marcelo.
