Hi John,

I know about flashpaper, it is not supported on Linux. And moreover we need an automated solution which can be used from a script.

An "API" assumes some type of application to be addressed by that interface.

For "How can I turn MS Office formats into SWF?" the easiest is
FlashPaper... installs as a Windows printer driver, and you just "print
to SWF".

If this then becomes "How can I turn MS Office formats into SWF without
spending $79 for the Adobe SWF printer driver?" then I'm not sure of the
best way to proceed.
