Evert,

Nicolas has done a great work and probably it must be hard to build
something for the community with good intentions, and not seeing many
excitement and adoption from us. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I think.

Adobe does not need "word-pass" publicity to sell their products, because
they already have a big name behind their products. If they release a new
product called "XPTO" people will be naturally interested and try to get
information on it. Nicolas, on the other hand has a good project, but hasn't
a brand behind him to make people believe and invest time and effort on
adopting it. I think he's doing a good thing on sharing the word among the
community. But I have to agree with you that he could sign his comments as
the haXe main developer.

I agree also on the fact that the lack of adoption on haXe makes it
difficult to decide whether to choose it or not when we're dealing with a
lot of responsibility.
But maybe this is a bit of everybody's fault. It's a one man job, walking a
lonely road trying to spread the word. We listen to him, but we let him
proceed his way. And we think "maybe he's selling the truth, but first let
me see if others believe him". (This reminds me some book written some
thousand years ago... :P).
Nicolas, with some disciples maybe your task would be easier. :)

In my case, I have great curiosity on haXe, but since I do not have time to
try it because of the current projects, and the fact that they involve so
much responsibility that I am not ready to take a chance on coding them on
haXe, I'll have to wait till I have some time to breath.

Till then, I hope haXe keeps growing and I also hope that some success
stories start appearing. :)

Good luck! :)

I haven't really tried Haxe myself.. I will for sure try it in the future..
but big issues I see at this point is the fact that there is only one
developer (thats you.. right?) actively working on it.. I dont know if this
is also true for the Neko VM, but again nicolas is the only name I see.

And as I recall correctly it only hit the 1.0 mark around a month ago..

This also means that there's still very little libraries available. If you
need extra functionality you will most likely need C. It's hard to beat the
few hundred people contributing to PHP or millions of users developing using
PHP or Java as a platform.

This is of course something that can change in the future.. and I hope it
will.. Diversity is a very good thing..
I just think it takes more than 1 talented developer for the project to
mature.

And.. it might not be the worst idea to put a disclaimer under your emails..
I see a lot of plugs for haxe from you, which is not bad as long as its
relevant to the subject, but let people know you are the author.. it doesnt
mean anything about the the quality of the product..
it does however mean that your view about the subject is not objective..
( I dont see the adobe people trying to sell coldfusion, and if they would
there would be a lot critique about it)
