Excuse me if i'm absolutely mistaken!!

It seems that your project doesn't need any high performance web server. It doesn't have large transactions nor continuous client-server communication (just retrieving data). PHP is enough.

Migrate to Java is not so easy. If the app isn't very long you'll have thousands of lines more than the php implementation. Although Java is a better language It might be more difficult to maintain than the php version, !

Flex: Update it to flex2. It's very slow in my machines (pentium4 1.5 and ibook 1.2 PPC).

Nice job Joao !! (did you get an A?)

Idolization??? I don't even know him!! I use MTASC, I see his posts on the
ML, and that's it. I do not have an opinion about him, except that he's a
great developer.

You are taking this discussion too seriously. Reading your answers, I can
see that are experienced and you know what you're talking about (and thanks
for your first detailed mail), but you need relax a bit. Take life the easy
way :).

And now, I think that we should get to the main discussion topic:

Flash->Flex?
PHP+AMFPHP-> JAVA+openAMF?
