I also use CakePHP and CakeAMFPHP... it´s simply an awesome combination!

Hello,I dont know the correct answer. I was wondering if anyone could give more information about ideal protocols for communicating with a server side DB. phpObject looks very easy to use but there are other concerns when choosing the ideal protocol. If anyone has given thoght to this please let me know how these different protocols compare in regards to the following:1) Ease of use2) transfer time3) Overhead4) Maximum amount of data transfered5) Load time when recieving data in flash6) ability to broadcast when data is loaded in flash7) probibility of crashing flash8) maintanability/reusability9) secuirity9) Supported data types.10) amount of time spent server side programming.

You can also take advantage of CakeAMFPHP [1] which is a nice bridge between
cakephp [2] and amfphp. I've been using it a lot for my recent projects and the
combination really takes the pain out of developing database backed flash
applications. There's even a nice tutorial for getting up and running with
CakeAMFPHP [3]
The other upside with cake is that you can generate a simple html interface to
the backend with minimal code (scaffolding) so that you can test it
independently of the flash code.
thats my personal opinion :)
