Its seems to me like a DOOM (v1) to AVM2. Make you can make it look same, maybe it a little slower but it uses like 10x more resources (in case of DOOM its 1000x but who counts?). It looks like this is a problem in all fancy new applications.

yours
Martin.

PS.: It can be done with AS2 as well as with AS3 performant but its connected to a lots of secrets nobody knows of ;)

Now you made me think. Maybe porting to AS3/AVM2 would be the way as the speed issues would be no problem I think as the AVM2 is far faster and optimized and has a better architecture also. However, I wouldn't want to use the heavy Flex2 framework! Maybe I even use HaXe to do that :)

What do you think?

Marcelo.

Timeline/AS1 scares me. I definetly think OO and these kind of things just don't align with my mindset. However, I find imageVue to be a masterpiece, and wonder why mjau-mjau didn“t implement it in a better architecture. I'm affraid that there are some kind of applications that are better developed with Timeline/AS1? However, I still think everyone in serious RIA development should use OO (AS2 at least!) as much as possible and most importantly, avoid Timeline coding completely.

Hi Marcelo,

I have made a photo slide flash application in as1 only when I ported
this to ActionScript 2. I had some seriously speed issues. For example,
if you use any animation effects such as scroll effects and wrap them
into classes. It looks slower less snappy then when using the old as1
version.
