yep... look at the code, and look to the data model (Entity 
Relationship? don't know how is it called in English sorry =/)
it is really bad done, I recommend for you to gather ideas from some 
e-commerces and develop your own.

Is really hard to find a good system ready to use, just because good 
systems are made specially for each customer,
and different customers has different needs.

Ok so returning to the topic...
we want a generic e-commerce as much complete as possible...

even if oscommerce had a good data model and the php coding was really 
good, it wouldn't be enough.
Systems today need more than to store data, need to generate 
informations, for example using data mining.

I don't know any good opensource e-commerce which thinks on it... ='(

but... if you only need the thing to work fast, get oscommerce install 
and have fun =P

if anyone knows a good opensource e-commerce so please share it =)
