Hi Joe,

You might be interested in recoding the whole thing in haXe then
(http://haxe.org). You would be able to write both Flash and JS classes
in haXe and communicate transparently between the two by using haXe
Remoting (http://haxe.org/tutos/remoting/flash_js)
