The nice thing about OpenLaszlo its an engine that can spit out to different
formats not only flash. Using a single syntax, it can create DHTML, Flash and
they say J2ME etc. More future engines depending on the industry. On thing I
dont like about it is, its heavy. Specially when exporting flash, theres a
kranking engine that can minimize this, you can also program it so its SOA/REST
oriented basically remoting so you have less turnaround. But your overall
initial component becomes heavier though. The future for OpenLaszlo is good,
but we had to stop on it during its flash days because of its speed constraint.
The DHTML engine is said to be faster. I do not work for OpenLaszlo, just
worked with it on a project. As for Flex I have not used it, I hope that gives
you some more info to quantify on.

Ops, Sorry, I thought this message has been posted on the Flexcoders :)

Being this a Flex 2 Mailing list, I'm pretty sure most of the replies will
favor flex2 over open laszlo. I, myself, have never used OpenLaszlo (the name
is kinda weird don't you think?) nor plan to do it, actually I'm still using
good old AS2 with some good frameworks and tools. The next natural step would
be of course Flex 2.

But use what would best work for you and good luck.

Marcelo.

controversial question. Which one is better OpenLazlo or
Flex2? We are building a very complicated Financial application with
TONS of screens and typical interactivity (drag and drop etc..). I
would imagine issues such as security, internationalization,
performance, etc.. would be main concerns. In doing research I found
to blogs (one is a response to the other) that make some interesting
points. I would like to hear from mainly those that have used both in
production. I noticed in Lazlos site ( http://www.laszlosystems.com/)
that the portfolio is pretty impressive:

ok, let the battle begin!
