FDT, IMHO, is the best AS2 IDE currently available. FlashDevelop is also very good.
I use Flash 8 IDE only for creating graphics and symbols. Haven't touched Flash CS3 yet, so I don't know how it would fit in my workflow. Btw, does anyone have any information about the speed of the Flash CS3 compiler? For AS3, Flex Builder all the way. And yes, I do miss a integrated debugger for AS2 since I use mtasc (I'm not crazy to use the MMC, was spending too much money on beverages while waiting for Flash to compile my projects...). So, the missing-piece for AS2 would be a OS debugger, unfortunately, I don't have the skills nor time to start such a project. Currently, the only thing you can do is use Xray and Logging Consoles and while Xray is great, sometimes nothing can replace a step-by-step debugging. Marcelo. Again, it's a different type of workflow. If you are doing heavy code development, you are going to want the more professional tools that Flex Builder, etc. gives you. I bet most people who work heavily in the Flash IDE never touch the debugger. I bet a lot don't even know it is there.
