ok, i just checked it now, both workspace and project directories have
spaces
in, but it works ok for me.

could you try starting eclipse with -clean to see if that helps?

Also check the preferences to see if Actionscript2 -> Compiler -> Check
Sytax on
Save is checked.

if that doesnt help then i'll investigate further.
