Hi Evan, First of all, I'd advise you to join the Papervision3D list, to be found at the osflash site; you're going to be better of asking these questions there, there will be a more focused user group to answer your questions.
I'll have a go at answering your questions here. The tutorials which are out there might not be matching the current revision. This is due to the fact pv3d is still very much in development in beta. Some of the demo's and tutorials are created when the API was a bit different still. Sorry about that, but there ain't much we can do for you there. The examples which are in the repository all work with the current revision though. As for Collada & textures. As opposed to the demo I did at OFLA 2, you can do more with the materials. Although the material name in the collada is fixed, using the materialslist object, you can link any type of material to that specific ID through the materialslist object. This will require some coding, either with or without the actual component. Again, I'd advise you to have a look at the examples dir in the repository. You can get directions from our wiki though : (wiki.papervision3d.org). Let me know how all goes, see you on the list. Ralph. On 6/26/07, Evan E <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Dear papervision community, Papervision seems stupendous and amazing! Kudos to the genius of her creator. I have been attempting to follow the tutorials online as well as the papervision docs and even attended the June 15th open conference presentation on Papervision. Unfortunately, I am still struggling as even when I implement tutorial solutions line for line I am getting errors in return. In one scenario, I had to replace an updated version of the geometryObject3D with an old, outdated version of that class to get a tutorial to work. In another, I am getting errors with the updated version of the Mesh3D class. And the particulars of textures and Collada in actionscript 3 are still unclear to me. Can I add my own photo textures to a Collada file independent of the ones exported by say, Studio Max in the dae file? Am I bound to the material name derived in Max? I know the Collada component is coming but is there any chance a new papervision tutorial for the Adobe Flash CS3 environment in even simpler to undertand terms is out there? I want to blow away my aquaintance who swears by Silverlight. kind regards, Evan _______________________________________________ osflash mailing list [email protected] http://osflash.org/mailman/listinfo/osflash_osflash.org
