If on Windows go FlashDevelop3
(http://www.flashdevelop.org/community/viewtopic.php?t=1935) and don't look
back. Code complete, use flash cs3 for your compile is all. Use external
.as and maybe a stub or document class as so you don't have to code anything
in the IDE other than the stub and imports or your document class. I agree
they just need to quit acting like that CS3 IDE is a dev environment at all.

FlashDevelop3 if you set your path to your as3 libraries or as2 and the path
to the CS3 classes ($(AppConfig)/ActionScript 3.0/Classes) it has code
complete for all your classes and you can save $400. I dig powerflasher but
they are going about the pricing the WRONG way.

FlashDevelop is built on the SharpDevelop IDE and it .NET based there are
mono.net releases for *nix but I have not tested it.

FlexBuilder for coding?

Though it's a little cost prohibitive:

Thats hilarious. It costs more than the new version of flexbuilder will in
USD.

Of course I would never buy a product from these guys given an
experience I had with them early on, but at these prices no one should
buy their product - which would make me smile.
