Good svn client like tortoise.
We have alternatives like scplugin / svnx / eclipse subversion plugin . All are disappointing compared to tortoise.. There is a promising program on the horizon though: versions. But versions in beta and it's commercial (no price known yet) For me that's the biggest drawback. Hmmm now im thinking about it.. also no java 6 on os 10.4. which is a pain in the ass (I'm still on 10.4 and don't have the time to upgrade). But if you switch to mac now you'll have no problems course. You will have a 64-bit processor and osx 10.5 so 64-bit version of java 6 is available. Furthermore you'll have to get use to no cut/paste files (or is this fixed in leopard? Anyone? ) which is very irritating. Also inside the open file dialogs you can't delete / remove files, something I used to do al lot on windows: Opening a file, seeing another file is redundant and removing it on the fly before opening the file I wanted to open in the first place. The finder in general is not very nice imho It has the irritating stupid column view etc. and I can''t find the setting for always open the finder in a specific view mode. But maybe in osx 10.5 many things are better in the finder Also the best open source actionscript editor around is not natively supported on the mac: FlashDevelop, but you can run it in parallels. I use flex builder nowadays so it's not a real problem.. and finally no icons in context menu's so finding the stuff you need in those is slower. I always have to look longer than necessary. c'm on steve give us icons! but for the rest it's awesome. Can't give you all the benefits as it would be too much typing :-) So even if this post sounds negative: for me.. No way back! Love my mac. And about $$ I really think you get good value for you money.. Lately I've been building the GUI Ubuntu is definitely amazing, but atm I don't see a better workflow to produce graphical elements than publishing a SWC from Flash CS3. I'm using VirtualBox to run seemlesly enough a basic Windows XP with CS3 and FlashDevelop. It works quite fine (just avoid VirtualBox's virtual shares) but it requires a decent computer with a lot of RAM.
