Agreed, this is a unique time where embedded and mobile is almost requiring
native knowledge (C/C++/Obj-C) as it is like developing on late 90's
computers.  So take this opportunity and learn C/C++ or Objective-C.  If you
don't want to invest time in Objective-C then you can still code C++ on the
iphone with one objective-c stub class.  Take a look at oolong engine for
iphone that shows this pretty well.  Some people don't think learning
Objective-C is worth it because it is so limited to Mac only but if you
think that way then try out C++ as you can use that in many places for game
development now and for probably a decade or two to come, especially in
embedded/mobile devices.
