Hi folks.

I'm writing a flash app using ActionScript that streams audio from the
user's microphone to a server.

I have a proof of concept running, and the audio encoding is Nellymoser.
However, on the wikipedia page for the FLV file format, it claims:

"Audio in Flash Video files is usually encoded as MP3 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3>. However, audio in Flash Video FLV files recorded from the user's microphone use the proprietary Nellymoser Asao Codec <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nellymoser_Asao_Codec>.^[14] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_Video#cite_note-nelly-13> (Flash Player 10 released in 2008 also supports the open source <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source> Speex <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speex> codec.^[15] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_Video#cite_note-14> ) FLV files also support uncompressed audio or ADPCM <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADPCM> format audio. Recent versions of Flash Player 9 support AAC <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Audio_Coding> (HE-AAC <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HE-AAC>/AAC <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Audio_Coding> SBR <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectral_band_replication>, AAC Main Profile, and AAC-LC)."

How is it determined which codec is used? I want to be able to control the
codec; I don't want to have to support all these codecs when working with
the resulting audio on the server.

Thanks! <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_Video#cite_note-AUDIO-15>
