Robert, As far as I am aware the rewrite I did later replaced this functionality by putting the file to uri conversion in the plugin and then allowing the user to specify a parameter for the document uri to be returned in. But I think Gordon needs to confirm that he is happy with that.
I think the file/URI debate is something we still need to have, but at a later date. I took a strict view that because the parameter is called FileName it should contain a valid current platform filename. However some of the osg file utilities and consequently some other plugins are more liberal in this interpretation.
