Ok, that should do it. I never really liked using prefixes either, but
since I don't know the code myself, I couldn't suggest a good
alternative to IGNORE.

Yes, that was the other option I considered. Good call.

I just named it utils since there's other things (gethostname for
example) so I saw it more as a general multiplatform compatibility
header. No problem though.
