Hi Eric,

I quickly tried out your fix for the flickering on my 64-bit Linux system
with Quadro FX 3400 (180.60) and Qt-4.4.3. This has a side-effect of
offsetting a black border for the split windows so it's visible in the
rendering windows. I've only had limited access to a Windows box and had not seen the flickering problem here. Windows in general has been much pickier than Linux, and we currently only get 1 of the 4 split views on Mac. Our OS
is more than a few months out of date, so I'll blame that for now.

The slowness is probably due to calling frame from a Qt timer rather than
viewer.run() or some other form of the viewer rendering loop. Also, try
stepping through the threading models by typing 'm' in the rendering windows.
Changing the timer interval didn't seem to have any effect.
