Hi Daniel, I've just reviewed your changes and feel that use of streams in this instance is a bit overkill, I've opted for the more lightweight approach of tweaking the sscan code so that it reads c strings and then passes these to osg::asciiToFloat() to do the non locale sensitive conversion. I've now checked this into the svn/trunk, could you try this out to check if it works fine for you.
