Sure!

I just added what you told me. I will have to learn the build system 
properly. Here's the line changed:

FIND_LIBRARY(GDAL_LIBRARY 
    NAMES gdal gdal_i gdal1.4.0


Just added "gdal1.4.0" to the end as you suggested. The whole file is 
attached as plain text also.
