Hi Alan,

The OSG has many loaders for different formats, just listing the
src/osgPugins directory will reveal them all. Most of the loaders
have been around on use for a number of years and don't see too much
in the way of changes these days, so touch wood seem to do O.K. on
existing users models.

There is a big but.. applications often export files to formats in non
standard ways - there break the specification for the format, most of
the time probably accidentally others perhaps deliberately. This
makes the life of plugin writer a bit of nightmare, as you still have
to try and load these dodgy files or fail gracefully.

In general I'd say formats like OpenFlight, TerraPage, 3ds, Lightware
.lwo, .obj, COLLADA are all pretty commonly used formats around the
OSG. How well you'll fare with your users models will depend on what
apps they export them from, etc. "You mileage may vary" as they say.

Robert.
