The quicktime plugin in 2.3.x and SVN has support for reading from live image streams. I'm afraid there isn't yet howto on using it yet so you'll need to look at the osgmovie example, I haven't used it first hand so can't provide this guide myself. The author of the live image stream support will be writing a howto on this topic so please be patient the answer will come along soon.
