I don' t use a MatrixManipulator but would like to set the camera
viewmatrix:
viewer.getCamera()->setViewMatrix (vMatrix * osg::Matrix::rotate
(-(osg::PI_2),1,0,0));
with
tMatrix = rot * trans;
vMatrix = tMatrix.inverse (tMatrix);

What MM are you using ?
Please also note that there is a setting in the 3D connexion driver to
set the translation as "dominant" .
