Well I'll give Cmake 2.6 another shot. I tried it too early before and
it had some strange behavior. Hopefully now since a lot of people are
using it I'll feel a bit more confident that it will work. I may get
back with you on the Install workflow, but I'll need to see how 2.6
looks first.
I just did a compile using CMake 2.4.8 to generate VS8 project files,
and all went well. The _OPENTHREADS_ATOMIC_USE_WIN32_INTERLOCKED config
was chosen, and the build completed correctly.
I had also done the same with CMake 2.6 earlier (after Robert committed
the fixes to not include windows.h in the Atomic header) and it worked
just as well. So you could use either 2.4.8 or 2.6. Can you please try
it and see if all is well on your side?
