Last summer I mentioned in this thread about starting up running.
We'll I've continued running building up to running my first marathon
race this past weekend.

I ran the Edinburgh Marathon and it was the hottest day so far this
year at 25 degrees C and no wind or shade on route, so not the kindest
conditions for doing a marathon. I completed it in 3:32:26, rather
slower than my target of 3:20, but not too bad considering I was
fighting cramp in my quads (muscles at the upper front of the leg) for
the last six miles. Support along route was fabulous, jelly babies
and garden hoses spaying out over the runners were very welcome. Mass
participation sports are quite a spectacle to be part of.

I'm still struggling up and down the stairs due to aching legs and but
the sun burn is the worst damage I did to myself - I still can't get
used to the fact that even Scotland can be sunny sometimes. So if you
ever come to Scotland bring the sun tan lotion :-)

Right back to work...

Robert.
