I'm having the same problem on my laptop (single screen). When I launch the osgViewer application, the screen gets rendered for 1 frame and then the entire window becomes black. If I use ALT-TAB to cycle back and forth, then the scene gets rendered correctly.
As you mentioned, it's very irritating. I was wondering if anyone looked into this since?
