Unfortunately as far as I can tell, this seems to load the first png-capable library it runs across, rather than the specific one I'm looking for.
Ah yes, I should have thought before replying - on MacOS the Quicktime or ImageIO plugins will be preferred... Then Stephan's way should work for you.
