Hi all, During the last 6 months, I'm working on an OSG tutorial book named OpenSceneGraph 3.0 Beginners' Guide, with my co-author Dr. Qian Xuelei, and now the hard time is drawing to a close. The book, which is written totally in English, will be published by Packt Publishing in December 2010. You may read more information or even pre-order it at the Packt website: https://www.packtpub.com/openscenegraph-3-0-beginners-guide/book
First I'd like to thank Robert Osfield, for his tremendous passion in leading the development the OSG, as well as providing all kinds of helps on the writing work. Many thanks to Jean-Sébastien Guay and Cedric Pinson, for their great technique reviewing work (and sometimes tiresome correcting my grammar and words, isn't it? :-) I will also acknowledge John F. Richardson and Marek Teichmann for announcing this book at the OSG BOF, and Paul Martz, for supporting the publication of our past and current books all the time. The book is been rewriting for final drafts at present. I'd like to introduce some important and active OSG-based projects in the book as references to beginners. These projects should be open sourced at least. I've listed some of them as follows, and if you have more ideas and projects to add in, please tell me as soon as possible: osgART, osgAudio, osgBullet, osgcal, osgCairo, osgCompute (osgCUDA), osgEarth, osgIntrospection, osgMaxExp, osgModeling, osgNV, osgOcean, osgPango, osgSWIG, osgVisual, osgXI, Maya2OSG and VPB. Some other projects, like ossimPlanet, FlightGear, Delta3D and VTP, are already introduced in the introduction chapter. I'll share more information as soon as the book is published and available on Amazon. Any other suggestions are always appreciated and welcomed. Cheers, Wang Rui
