I can't believe you're still struggling with this.

Why don't you just use a camera manipulator, see where your camera needs to be to see the object, print out the view matrix (set by the camera manipulator) each frame, and then use that without a manipulator? Or at least that will tell you where your object really is, so you'll find your mistake when positioning it.

Honestly, I doubt OSG has a bug in this kind of basic thing since it's been in use for over 10 years now, so if you're not seeing your object it's obviously because it's not placed where you think it is, so just find out where it is and where it needs to be and you'll be done...
