Hi Neil, The OSG places the plugins in an osgPlugins-version directory, while the libraries will be placed in the lib (for .lib) and bin(for dll's) directories respectively. This should be the same for your build from source as for the pre-built binaries, the link to the pic you attached doesn't work for me so I can't compare this at all.
Differences between a pre-built and a local build may well be just done to what dependencies you have on your system that you've compiled against vs what the developer who created the pre-built libraries had available.
