The special characters were being mis-intrpreted by my editor of choice Kate and by console app Konsole. I've pulled in the AUTHORS.txt contents via the web browser and this fixes this. I've updated the ThreePointZero with the correction.
Yeah, character encoding is easy to get wrong when text goes through many applications. As a native French speaker I certainly appreciate you having corrected the issue. :-)
(btw my name also has an accent but I omit it most of the time in e-mails...)
