I'm not a Qt engineer so can only speculate on what might be the
difference.  My best guess is that the app your are testing is running
a idle or timer callback to run each frame and this is being called
less often by Qt 4.8 than Qt 4.7.

With real-time apps one should never use a GUI timer or idle callback
to instigate frame, rather the application should be frame driven and
check for events on each frame.  Most osgViewer based apps will be
frame driven unless they change the mechanism for calling frame.
