Well, ok, everyone went back to Andy's question, but my IOD/IPD
 problem was on a CRT with crystal eyes - which I forgot to mention  8-)

I will try Paul's suggestion, but the general problem I was addressing
 was the fact that   DisplaySettings::setEyeSeparation()  doesn't seem
 to do what Andy & I  expected - ie the separation seems larger
 than it should.    So I think he & I were searching for what we may
 have been misinterpreting or misconfiguring..


quick aside:  for hmds, I generally don't use "stereo" modes, but do just
  what Andy did - the rotation is usually needed when displays are
 'cantered' inward (like some Kaiser hmds) for partial overlap.

account for the eye position and configuration of the displays.  The

down the offsets to fit the model.

This gave me results much closer to what I was expecting. Especially in a
head-mounted display.

Can't help but feel its a fudge factor that a proper sterep setup.

It's possible I was just making things hard for myself, but I just couldn't
get OSG to give me reliable stereo matrixes once I started adjusting values
like the interocular distance, or the convergence distance.

Unfortunately I don't have access a HMD to tune things against at my end.
