Hi Daniel,

The GPL licensing is a real shame, it limits it to use only in GPL'd
app or paid up commericial users.

I wonder how a QThreads implemenation of OpenThreads should be
licensed? One would have to mention all the various caveates of that
path. If one did via a plugin, rather linking, one get around the
licensing of the GPL, as the GPL does not limit runtime usage of GPL'd
products.

I'm not sure Trolltech would be happy playing plugin games to
circumvent the GPL though.

Robert.

From a licensing perspective I suppose you are free and clear to
implement your own atomic locking in asm so long as you don't look at
Qts implementation.

Qt is GPL or paid-for commercial unlike OSG which allows free
commercial use.

Integrating that with OpenThreads would give you even more
performance than what I provided because you have
one less layer of abstraction.

QOpenThreads is still useful because all of the QThreads know about
each other and the QMutex / QWaitCondition check the
current QThread in their atomic locking algorithms.
