We saw this failing on Windows in my last class as well.  There is something broken in the protocol between master/slave.

You have to run osgcluster -s cow.osg on the slave, and osgcluster -m
cow.osg on the master.

You also need to make sure you machines have the required ports open.
Use -n <int> to define the socket number used.
