Hi Chris,
A late reply but was finally able to test the paging performance on the
ATI laptop (9600). Performance has improved significantly with the new
drivers -> paging is heaps faster
Good to hear.
but now I get frame rate drops/rises
while sitting static in 1 location over the OSGdem terrain.
The frame rate varies between 60fps and 10fps in nice regular waves. No
other application is running, just bare windows and OSG.
Not a major problem at the moment but it would be good to know what
causes this issue.
I, uh, probably can't help with this, as I don't use OSGDEM itself. Anyone else care to
comment on this?
I can't recall if it's possible to turn on a polygon throughput count that might be
able to tell you what's changing. Can you monitor the system CPU load (TaskManager) and
turn on the Statistics display to see if it's happening in cull or draw?
In my app, I also added the display of the size of the databasepager load and compile
queues -- this lets me see at a glance if some background pager activity is ongoing or if
the pager is really idle. Perhaps someone could add some extended stats like this to
osgviewer? I would do so, but I'm stuck on another non-OSG optimization project for a while.
Regards Gert
