The new plugin just uses the osgDB to load the external reference. As long
as its directory is in your OSG_FILE_PATH, the plugin should find it.

I don't remember how the old plugin worked. Do you find that the old plugin
finds your external references, but the new one doesn't? (export
OSG_OPEN_FLIGHT_PLUGIN as 'new' or 'old'.)
