Oscar,
        You may want to have a look at Maverik - 
http://aig.cs.man.ac.uk/maverik/maverik.php. It's a large model visualisation 
system that I've seen crowd simulation done with 
http://aig.cs.man.ac.uk/gallery/crowd. If my memory serves me correctly there 
might even be someone on this list who was at Manchester Uni and had something 
to do with Maverik.
