Thanks, however this I knew about (perhaps except the option 1). I just
thought that there has to be a simpler way I didn't notice. Oh well, one
cannot get everything :)

BTW, in order to copy with following symlinks (copies the content of the
file, not the symlink) you need to pass the switch -H. With rsync it is -L.
