The .sbr files are source browser support files and are generated for
each .obj produced during compilation.  They contain symbols and such
that allow VS to navigate function call trees, etc.

Hi,

yeah, I've seen absurd VS disk consumption, esp building debug versions.
The worst offenders seem to be .pch (precompiled headers?) and .sbr
(what are
these?)  Sometimes I run out of disk in the middle of a build; by
cleaning those two, I can gain 3-4 gigs easily.
