1) simply set your PATH environment

e.g.
%OSG_ROOT%\bin\win32\;"C:\Program Files\Microsoft DirectX SDK (December 2005)\Utilities\Bin\x86";C:\Tcl\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%HummPATH%;C:\Program Files\Rational\ClearCase\bin;C:\Program Files\Rational\common;C:\Program Files\doxygen\bin;C:\Program Files\cvsnt;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\bin;C:\PROGRA~1\ATT\Graphviz\bin;c:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Cg\bin;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\

2) As to the precompiled I believe they are complied with VS 7.1, if you have VS 7.1 then should have the missing DLL's

If your running VS8.0 then you cannot reliably use the precompiled and should build all the modules and plugins required in VS8.0

Best Regards

Thank you. But here comes another one, how can I be sure that my OSG/VS 8.0 bin and lib dirs are searched before any other such as NVIDIA SDK ?

As a reminder, I did not compile my OSG version, I have installed the binaries from the web site.

HI

I came this on my new system when I installed it clean with OSG and VS 8.0 , make sure your OSG/VS 8.0 bin and Lib dirs are searched before any other such as NVIDIA SDK or ATI SDK as they are compiled against VS7.1

Unfortunately MSVCR71D.dll is a debug lib which means legally your not allowed to redistribute them... also you probably find you need to also need to  have mscvp71d.dll

you might find them lurking on some web sites if your don't have them

Best Regards

Gordon

Subject: [osg-users] A DLL error message: MSVCR71D.dll

Dear all,

I am a newbie to OSG and wanted to install it on my Win XP SP2 via web installation. http://www.nps.navy.mil/cs/sullivan/osgtutorials/osgInstall/install.htm is the way of performing such installation. I completed the installation without a single error message(ok, it is as easy as my grandma could complete).

Afterwards, I wanted to compile-and-execute the example files. To do so, I opened the file osglogo project. My compiler compiled it succesfully but my linker listed hundreds of error messages. I succeed to eliminate them by adjusting my project settings. (Adding proper .lib filenames to the additional libraries)

Finally, I’ve got the resulting error dialog saying “This application has failed to start because MSVCR71D.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem”.

I would greatly appreaciate if you could help me on this subject.

Best Regards.
