Ok and where did the Max test file come from? Is it trying to model component transparency? Is the exporter options set to use RGB_ZERO? I took a look at their ColladaMax release notes and the changes are probably due to the resolution of Bug 160. http://www.feelingsoftware.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=160 It's not clear to me if it's correctly resolved. Perhaps you want to reopen it and make it a dependency blocker for the bug you opened (Bug 229).
