(I am amazed at the number of peruvian restaurants in the greater D.C. area - the one we ate at was.... well... ok.)

Hi Robert and Gordon,
First, thanks for the recognition for the effort on the server, Robert, it is often frustrating to realize that much of that work is taken for granted.
Second, I'm quite pleased to provide anyone who wants to set up extra functionality on the server with the appropriate accounts and permissions for the time needed to get something set up. Invariably, of course, the maintenance of such a system is left up to me, so a system that "runs itself" is definitely a boon. In the case where such a system goes down, or needs to be upgraded or reinstalled, I will either need to recruit help to get it back in working order or it needs to be simple enough that I don't need to take a night class to learn how to manage it.
Just an armchair observation from here: while we can debate until we are blue in the face about what runs the world it is only those items that survive time that come to the forefront, whether they be technically superior or not. If we can offer a solution that pleases all involved, I'm all for that. However, I would not want to tinker with Robert's ability to be as active as he is on the mailing list by putting together a system that he won't use. So, I give his preference the abundantly over-weighted benefit of the doubt.
Contact me off-line and I'll set up what is needed to get things installed.

The time has come :-)
At least on prototyping a forum/mailing list as per the page I put up.
Once we have a system that looks like it ticks all the boxes then we
can look at setting up on the openscenegraph.org server. Simply
having a forum isn't up good enough though, as it'll fracture the
community and kill my ability to cope with support.
Since it looks like you'll be seeing Don over beers this week it looks
like you can probably coordinate on some of the implementation
details.
Cheers,
Robert.
