Hi Paul,

Thanks for the posting the progress so far. Certainly put a smile on
my face with a warm fuzzy glow seeing that an OSG book is now truly
underway ;-)

In what form would you like suggestions/corrections? Pdf makes it
easy to read, but not to correct typos. I wonder if providing it as
a ODF or Word oducment to edit but do so with corrections in red or
some other convention.

When you want an specific examples written just ping me/the list. I
won't be able to respond straight away, but small examples generally
don't too long to put together.

Also if queries about particular classes then just ask for a
explanation and I'll have a go.

Cheers
Robert.

For those of you interested in reviewing drafts of the OSG documentation,
I've posted a (very) rough draft of the front matter for the OpenSceneGraph
Quick Start Guide. You can download it from my Web page:

http://www.skew-matrix.com/OSGQSG.html

If you review it, please limit your review comments to content only, and
gross errors of grammar. Please do not tell me to change the font or the
margins, etc., as the current form will likely bear little resemblance to
the final form.

I use "TBD" throughout as a marker to myself for something I'll need to fix
later. But, as you can see, in some places it's also a solicitation for
input (for example, suggested reading material). Please help out in those
areas if you can.

Thanks,

Subject: [osg-users] OSG documentation / books

Hi all --

Over the past few weeks I've been focusing my efforts on developing concepts
for a set of developer-oriented OpenSceneGraph books. I've posted my plans
to http://www.skew-matrix.com/OSGdocs.html.

To summarize, I have three books planned:

A Quick Start Guide, which will hopefully be complete by early next year and
can be downloaded for free as a PDF or purchased softbound. (If purchased,
proceeds will help support the OSG documentation effort by paying for future
revisions).
A Programming Guide, not for free, hopefully available by late 2007.
A Reference Manual, probably derived from Doxygen output, probably available
in 2008.
I hope to use you, the OSG community, as my technical review team. So, as I
complete sections of the documentation, I'll make advance copies available
free to anyone who pledges to read it in a timely fashion and provide
feedback.

Speaking of feedback, please follow the link above and post here with any
thoughts on the current plans.

Thanks,

Paul Martz
