Michael -- Some parts of the OSG distribution require 3rd party
dependencies. From the errors you posted, it looks like you might be missing
the GDAL dependency.

If you don't have GDAL, you can still go ahead and build the rest of OSG and
run it, but you won't be able to use the osgTerrain node kit, which may or
may not be a problem for you (you can do an awful lot with OSG without the
terrain node kit).
