Hi Zach,
May I suggest you take a look at Remo 3D - a modeling tool based on
OpenFlight but with support for importing and exporting of several file
formats. It has support for switches, DOFs, etc. Download the demo
version from www.remograph.com.

Hi Gordon,
I have seen that poll, but I was wondering what the bulk of OpenSceneGraph
users use as their 3D modeling tool. I assume there is a wide-range of
users since OSG is open source and cross-platform.
I know I still use Multigen Creator to create our models, and then convert
them to ive files. I am interested in what other OSG users are using. (not
the whole simulation community).
We have tried using 3D studio max, but it doesn't have some scene graph
capabilities we like (switch nodes, degree-of-freedom nodes).
I was hoping a poll may just show some alternatives 3D modeling programs to
look at.

Hi
Go over to Modsim.org they have had a couple of these poles
Creator still wins over most in the sim world but a lot of that is a legacy
need
Openflight is pretty much dying or dead its market penetration is sinking
faster than the titanic, MPI are trying to revive OFLT as the an interchange
format ( seriously they are ), which I find rather amusing as OFLT is NOT an
interchange format. OFLT is a good modeling format but it is very poor as
run-time format and is stupid to use it as an Interchange format, Plus MPI
do not supply any code or loaders for any one other than their own runtime
Vega Prime
Sketch-up and Collada formats are likely to win as defacto interchange
format IMO and that's what we are seeing from our large customer base...
But also remember you get the best performance out of using native
Scenegraph binary formats such as IVE etc...
Best Regards
Gordon

I'm interested to know what 3D modeling tools everybody is using (who uses
OpenSceneGraph). I'd like to see who is using?:
Multigen Creator
3D Studio Max
Maya
SketchUp
Blender
(I know I'm missing a bunch)
Has there been a poll like this?
Zach
